We’d like to take you on our #RebuildingJourney for you to see how much sweat, tears and hard work we’ve put into our space, but also to share all the fun, laughter and cool co-creation with you!
Kaserne Basel is the largest centre in northwestern Switzerland for innovative popular music and the free contemporary theatre, dance and performance scene! Kaserne Basel organized numerous festivals in the performing arts, produces exceptional formats within urban space and promotes young talent! Characterized by a blend of current, up-and-coming, innovative and well-established bands, the focus lies withing live concerts.
The Reithalle and the two Rossställe mean that Kaserne Basel boasts outstanding event venues that can be used for a number of purposes with space for up to 1700 guests.
Although they didn’t foresee it at the time that was written, I’d like to point out how right they were!
We recently acquired–and installed–from the generous people at Kaserne, fabulous wood flooring! This floor has seen so many incredible bands, absorbed the stomping of dancing feet, and cleaned up beautifully after many-a-drinks spilled onto it.
Yes, this floor is moving on from it’s wild roots to it’s next life of a quiet(er) retirement. Rather than incredible live bands, it’ll hear instead innovative, paradigm-shifting ideas be born. And that still pretty much rocks!
At work or home, how can our every-day actions contribute to improving a building’s overall energy usage? And why should we bother? Currently, the building industry accounts for 40% of global energy use, 30% of energy-related GHG (greenhouse gas) emissions, approximately 12% of water use, and nearly 40% of waste (source: United Nations Environment Program).
We can do better!
During our Old Building – New Life event energy advisor Udo Schuster from IWB gave us some great insights on how to realize our big vision of creating an energy-efficient coworking space! On the way to a “Zero Emissions Building”!
We will be debuting our own coworking space in October 2019. In the meantime, we’re working on curating a space that is welcome to our future members and users – just have a look at our #RebuildingStories. This space should not just inspire innovation and collaboration, but also be a place of safety and productivity. Here I’ll share some of the insights we’ve gained on coworking spaces (so far).
The ‘coffee culture’ has hit practically every corner of the world, with coffee being consumed at incredible rates. This isn’t surprising. Coffee is delicious! And coffee shops are so inviting…in a cozy Café , one can be alone but also surrounded by the energy of other people…it’s a place to do some work, but also find distractions when a break is needed. For many of us, a cafe feeds us in a way we don’t find elsewhere.
Thanks to our new neighbors Kriegel+Schaffner, we were able to snag some wooden cable spools. Round and round they go…Samina quite literally rolled them to our building!
Christian and Andre putting some muscle into it, sanding down the new chair and table tops.
Sourcing foam from local biz Offcut Basel and fabric from second-hand curtains, all that was needed was some stapling. Lots and lots (and lots) of stapling…
And their debut evening, in full use!
This looks like fun?!
