Püüü – Turning Food Waste into Opportunity

Püüü was inspired by our experience founding an ice cream startup that created premium ice cream from rescued and regional ingredients. During this journey, we realised that while creative solutions to fight food waste exist, practical and scalable ways to reintegrate food waste into the value chain were missing. This is the gap we wanted to fill. With Püüü, we offer a sustainable product – frozen fruit puree – enabling food producers to work more resource-efficiently while actively addressing waste. Our vision is to turn food waste into an opportunity for innovation and a more sustainable food industry.

The idea for Püüü arose when we asked ourselves what was missing in our ice cream production. We realised the need for a scalable solution to reduce food waste efficiently. The first step was to come together as a team, combining our expertise in entrepreneurship and food technology to bring this idea to life.

 

About Our Product

Püüü transforms surplus fruit that would otherwise go to waste into sustainable, frozen fruit puree. This not only reduces food waste but also provides the food industry with a simple and practical way to operate more sustainably. The combination of sustainability and usability makes Püüü a unique product on the market.

Our Impact

By rescuing surplus fruit and turning it into sustainable fruit puree for food production, Püüü helps reduce food waste, supports regional agriculture, and promotes resource-efficient value chains. Our target audience includes food producers such as bakeries, restaurants, and beverage manufacturers who want to operate more sustainably. Püüü enables them to use surplus fruit, reduce waste, and make their production more eco-friendly – with minimal effort but maximum impact.

 

In five years, we aim to establish Püüü as a key player in the fight against food waste in Switzerland. Through large-scale production, we want to make a measurable contribution to reducing the 2.8 million tonnes of unused food and drive lasting change in the food industry. We measure our impact in the number of kilos saved – the more fruit we rescue and process into Püüü, the bigger our contribution to a sustainable future.
