CMS bases its funding policy closely on the guidelines of the founder (“relieve the distress” and “foster the well-being”). It sees itself as a social investor and advocates, anticipates and actively supports people in need as well as the promotion of sustainable social processes and measures, that enable the people of Basel individually and collectively to enjoy a better quality of life in peaceful coexistence. It does this with financial resources, projects, expertise and the mediation of projects in the areas of social, cultural and natural support.
Gebert Rüf Stiftung was established by entrepreneur Heinrich Gebert as a science and innovation foundation. Its objective is to promote «Switzerland as a top location for business and as a place to live». As a private funding agency guided by its mission statement «making science effective», it supports entrepreneurial projects which are committed to achieving an impact with initial funding. The foundation places top priority on synergizing and networking individual projects, which are in turn anchored to specific areas of activity.
