One day to focus on our communities’ social innovation and sustainable entrepreneurship!
It’s been over a year since we opened our doors, and we want to celebrate this milestone with you. We would not be where we are today without you, our community – our supportive partners, creative member and everyone around us!
We have achieved so much together with our local and intercontinental activities, and we would like to show to you what those activities were and still are and how you can get involved to support our efforts contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals. Because we are indeed #StrongerTogether!
Join us for this Open Day to discover your local Impact Hub!
Whether you are looking for new ways to make a positive impact on our world, whether you want to meet inspiring people, or just want to know what our purpose as a so-called Impact Hub is, this day will answer your questions.
The Impact Day is an Impact Hub Basel event that takes place during one day online and physically. We are obligated to create Covid-19 protection concepts and comply with the requirements of the federal government and the cantons. Short-term program changes and restrictions are possible due to the changing measures. It is therefore strongly recommended to consult the program details regularly.
Program of the Day
Start off Impact Day with a morning yoga session that will bring liveliness to your mind and vibrancy to your body.
How we wake up often determines the rest of our day. So let’s start Impact Day with a morning yoga session that gives vitality to our mind and vibrancy to our body.
This is the official kick-off of Impact Day 2020 with a welcome speech and introduction to the hybrid format – how are we going to do it, where to go for help – and a short description of all the sessions happening through the day.
This session is dedicated to entrepreneurs, leaders, team members and organizations who care about their purpose and their impact on the world.
Many decisions we are making are based on cultural codes, unspoken norms and common ‘best practices’. These are perpetuating patterns which might have served us very well in the past. But now that the context has shifted, they might be hindering us while we strive to build purposeful and impactful organizations.
With the first-hand experience and support of our member Patrick Scheuerer, Xpreneurs, we will look into which work settings are supportive of our individual and collective impact.
- Input Session by Patrick Scheurer
- Breakout groups for a collective inquiry, looking at
- What are the mindset and management practices we experienced, that are supporting or impeding our desired way of working?
- What are the legal structures that can help us achieve our goals?
- Plenary discussion
We all have something to share and to learn. Many individuals, businesses and communities are willing to lend a helping hand to young entrepreneurs, especially in emerging markets. How to make it an experience benefiting everyone? How to build relationships on the long run? What are the key success factors? How to know if this is the right fit?
If you are a startup needing help or if you would like to volunteer, you’re in the right session!
Are you an innovator, an entrepreneur or a dreamer passionate about creating tangible solutions to the world’s most pressing issues? Come join like-minded people like you to find out about the global Impact Hub network and explore how you can be part of the change at your local Impact Hub.

Do you need more laughter in your life? Yup – thought so. Whether you’re new to improv and have always been curious, or you’re an experienced improviser this workshop is for you! Many people think they have to be an actor or funny to do improv. While being funny is nice, it’s more about listening and reacting.
Improv is more than a skill for performers. It’s an excellent way to: gain self-confidence, improve public speaking and writing skills, learn to think on your feet, open yourself to new ways of looking at things, become a better listener, bring more laughter into your life. All you need is an open mind and a willingness to play!
- Short introduction to improv
- Improv games on different topics

Have you ever wondered how you could become a more conscious consumer, doing more and better with less?
The Sustainable Development Goal 12 encourages us to decouple economic growth from environmental degradation, to increase resource efficiency and to promote a sustainable lifestyle.
If we want to embody those values in a practical way, we have to start by changing our relationship to our belongings and adopting a more responsible consumption.
Our community member Nathalie Gehrold, decluttering coach, will lead us through a session to examine our behaviours of consumption.
In this event, you will
- Uncover the seven blockages that prevent us from decluttering
- Learn about the ONE root cause that is hidden behind them
- Get conscious about what pushes us to accumulate
- Discover the four pillars to build an ecological relationship to our belongings
- Take our first steps together to get rid of our overflow right during the session
- Decluttering exercise
On 13-14 November 2020, the second Climathon in Basel took place – this time virtually. Collaborating again with the city, IWB and this year also with BVB, Clariant, Pro Natura, Kutzschenbach Institute for Sustainability Studies and BaselHack, which even awarded a coding prize, participants had a wide range of experts available and managed to develop some great ideas. Let’s hear them!

The Social Dilemma — discussion
Big Tech’s promise to keep us connected has given rise to unintended consequences like mental health issues, political polarization, and misinformation that is causing real-world harm to our health and our democracy. Let’s reboot the system to realign technology with the interest of people not profits. Join us to discuss.
